Workshop 1:

DRAWING DANCE: A One Day Workshop for Artists

How do artists capture movement in a mark on paper? One is dynamic, changing, fluid in time. The other is still. It’s a dichotomy that has challenged and intrigued artists including Matisse, Degas and Manet.

Enjoy a full day workshop drawing dancers from Bridport Youth Dance alumni.

Through the day we will attempt to capture the movement, energy and gestures of the dancers. This workshop is open to everyone, from beginners to practicing artists.

It is led by artist Jo Burlington. Jo trained at the Ruskin School of Art and has many years experience running workshops and drawing/working with dancers.

Where: Symondsbury Barn, Symondsbury Estate, Bridport, Dorset DT6 6HG

When: Tuesday 15 th April 10am – 4pm

Cost: £75.00 for the day. This includes materials (paper, charcoal, ink, easels, boards, tables) andrefreshments.

Bring along any of your favourite things to draw with too.

Workshop 2:

DRAWING DANCE: A 3 Hour Workshop for Artists

A workshop led by artist Jo Burlington in the Bridport Arts Centre attempting to capture and draw the movements of mature dancers.

Where: Bridport Arts Centre

When: 14th May 2025 - 2pm - 5pm

With: Jo Burlington

Cost: £35.00 for the 3 hours. Materials included but bring your own if you wish.
